Police, Far-western bag wins

December 31, 2017 - Nirmala BK scored four goals as Nepal Police Club thrashed Central Region 6-2 in the opening  match of the 16th National Women’s League 2074 being played under the National Sports Council Champinship at ANFA Complex, Satdobato, on Sunday.

Nirmala opened the scoring for Nepal Police scoring in the 11th minute and quickly doubled the tally for her team in the 13th minute. By the 36th minute, She had completed her hat-trick. The strong built Police women did not just stop there, She had her final says scoring in the 49th minute.

Amrita Jaisi (19th) and Skipper Ghim Kumari Gurung (72nd, P) were the other scorers for Police.

Meanwhile, for visiting team Central Region Sabita Rana Magar and Mithila Kuswar scored in the 26th and 79th minute respectively.

Commenting about match, NPC coach Sanjeev Joshi said that the team was delighted to win their first match against Central Region.

“Players of Central Region have a strong bonding. They conceded six but this does not mean they are weak,” said Joshi.

Meanwhile, Noor Raj Kafle, coach of Central Region, expressed his satisfaction toward his players performance.

“I am satisfied with the performance of my girls. NPC is a strong team and scoring against them is a kind of encouragement to us,” expressed Kafle.

In the other match of the day, Far-western emmerged surprise winners over Eastern Region defeating them 4-0.

Chandra Bhandari and Sirsha Karki scored a brace each in the win for Far-western.

Bhandari scored her first goal in the ninth minute and added another in the 37th minute. Likewise, Karki got herself in the scoresheet in the 82nd and 89th minute.

Earlier, Minister for Youth and Sports Rajan KC inaugurated the championship by handing over the match to match referee Ashmita Manadhar (FIFA Referee).

Monday’s match sees Tribhuwan Army Club VS Western Region in action, while the second match us beteween Nepal APF Team and Mid-western Region.
