Jan. 7, 2018 - Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal APF Team recorded victories in the super league matches of the ongoing 16th National Women’s Football League Championship 2074 being held at ANFA Complex on Sunday.
Army beat departmental side Nepal Police Club 4-1 and APF thrashed Far-Western 9-0.
In the departmental derby, Skipper Krishna Khatri and Anjali Waiba scored a brace to secure Army’s win.
Anjali had given Army a lead through a free kick in the 20th minute only for NPC Skipper Ghim Kumari Gurung to level the score nine minutes before the interval from a well taken free kick .
Army appeared a different team after the interval, dominating possession and creating opportunities frequently. In one such occasion, Anjali Waiba raced clear off her marker to nestle her attempt in the far post, restoring Army's lead in the 57th minute.
It was then Skipper Krishna Khatri who stole the show scoring a quick fire double to make Army's win all but certain.
Skipper Kishna scored in the 70th minute and got her second and teams’ fourth in the 75th minute.
Army Coach, Aadarsha Malla said that his side played good teamwork and won the match, while Police coach Sanjeev joshi commented that his team faced defeat as they fail in the game plan.
Likewise, Sabitra Bhandari scored a double hat-trick while Anita Basnet scored a brace and Rekha Poudel netted a single in APF's easy win over Far-western Region.
Bhandari began the onslaught scoring in the 18th minute. After the interval, she grew more dominant netting five times past a hapless Far-western keeper. She scored in the 49th, 73rd minute, 76th, 84th (P) and 90th (P) minute.
Meanwhile, Anita Basnet directed the ball home in the 56th and 60th minute while Rekha Poudel, celebrating her birthday, got a rewarding gift when she ended the session finding the back net in the second half injury time (90+3').
